Lamp lighting and Oath taking ceremony of the 4th batch of B.Sc Nursing students held on 1st February 2015. Most. Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Vazhapilly was our chief guest. Mrs. Gracy VC Principal of the nursing college welcomed. The celebration was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Most Rev. Dr Thomas A. Vazhapilly.Oath was administered by Rev. Sr. Jobeena, Nursing Superintendent our hospital. Mrs. Fareena presented a brief report of the college.

In his presidential address Bishop congratulated the students who came forward to take up nursing as a profession. He said, “Nursing profession is something special and unique.  There is a limit for care but no limit for care.  Nurse need to see God in people”.  Referring to the Florence Nightingale, he said “she used to carry a lamp in her hand during night rounds among wounded soldiers.  Nurses need to follow her foot steps in giving care to the people”.

Rev. Fr. George Martiz, Director of the Nursing college and Fr. Santhosh Joshy Asst. Administrator for St. Joseph’s Hospital were also present.




                18th of November was marked as a memorable day in the life of every fresher’s of Basic B.Sc Nursing of Batch 2013-2017 at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing,  Mysore.

            The fresher’s day was a day that was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness.

            The Chief Guest for the day was Fr. Leslie Moras; Director of our Nursing college addressed the fresher’s regarding the enlightment of the nursing profession by nursing buds.

            The other guests at the event were Fr. Mari raj, Director of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sr. Deline, Nursing Superindent of St. Joseph’s Hospital, our beloved Principal Mrs. Gracy V.C & Sr. Prema, Warden, St. Joseph’s College of Nursing Hostel.

            The Chief Guest lighted the lamp and inaugurated the programme.

            For the fresher’s, the dress code for the fresher’s day was Pink & blue selwar.  Celebration started sharp at 10.00 am with the opening prayer followed by welcome address.  The fresher’s were formally welcomed into St. Joseph’s Nursing family.

            The fresher’s were made to participate in the games.  The games were of in 3 rounds, and it was according to the intellectual, attention, creativity level of the fresher’s and judged by Sr. Delin, Nsg. Supdt., and Mrs. Maria Wilson, English lecturer.

            The fresher’s were activity participated in singing, dancing & skits to entertain the gathering.  At the end all the participants were eagerly waiting for the results, and freshy queen was selected.

            Finally IInd year students distributed snacks & sweet to each and every guests and students and the programme was concluded with vote of thanks.  The entire fresher’s including senior’s rocked the event and enjoyed the celebration and thanked the Chief guests, Principal, other guests, staffs and students for hosting such a nice programme that they could cherish life long.
